Introducing four artifacts from the future to promote students to speculate and discuss :What are the “right” conditions for discourse.
GSD students widely acknowledge the importance of civiil discourse. We see discourse manifest or not manifest in many aspects of our lives. At the GSD we find individuals misrepresented or feeling unsafe from differing parties. This theme extends all the way through to a national level.
Across these issues, students and stakeholders recognize the importance of civil discourse but believe that conditions need to be “perfect” in order to truly benefit from it.
Research shows that people think discourse can be fixed through changing the conditions for it.
What if we could let students experience possible alternative conditions from the future?
